Between The
Head & The Heart

They arrived one at a time across two years, and they were never meant to stay apart. This is the record those songs belong to.

The Record

What happens when you stop keeping them to yourself.

For years Jennifer wrote songs and gave most of them away. She wrote for other artists, sang other people's words at other people's weddings, and kept her own songbook in a drawer. Writing Sailing for Douwe Bob, then standing on stage for twenty six nights hearing an audience sing her words back, ended that arrangement.

What came out of it was thirty two songs. Six of them became this record. They were released one at a time, starting with One Step At A Time, which is exactly what the release plan turned out to be.

They were made independently, produced by Gordon Groothedde and Nick Jongejan, with a band in the room rather than a laptop on a desk. Uptempo where the old records were careful. Funny where they were polite. The title is the argument running underneath all six songs: what you know, against what you want.

The Songs

Six tracks, in order of arrival.

SongReleasedWhat it is
One Step At A Time2025The first song out, and the manifesto of the whole thing: chasing something despite the fear of it. Written with Douwe Bob and Gordon Groothedde.
Price to Pay2025Walking away from someone who was never going to change, and not waiting around to be asked twice.
Scary Movie2025Mixed signals and modern romance, told with a straight face and a Halloween grin.
Why Would Anyone Fight a Butterfly2026Written for War Child. The quietest song here and the one with the most weight behind it.
Between The Head & The Heart2026The title track. The argument the record is named for.
Real Deal2026No filters, no games, no fine print. The most recent, and the loudest.
